BECK: Liberals were right about Iraq

Wednesday, June 18th, 2014

blogs_beck_dementia_5553_709160_poll_xlargeOld protesters may have recalled the Buffalo Springfield song about it not being exactly clear what is happening when Glenn Beck said the “liberals were right” about the Iraqi war.    The former Top40 DJ turned pundit led off  his radio show on Tuesday morning with a stirring monologue about all the ways he believes the left and right can come together to “heal” America. As part of that, Beck said he regrets supporting the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

Talk about the right being in turmoil or has broadcasts’ anger/hate mongers begun to lose their audience? Here we have one of the more demented rightwing loudmouths who used anger and distortions and myths to make millions of dollars while making a mockery of a civil society now calling for liberals and conservatives to  join hands and work together.

I know, it’s hard to stop laughing. It’s like a coal company expressing interest in worker safety or clean air.

After listing the Veterans Affairs Department scandal and the fight against Common Core standards as two ways in which the left and right can unite, Beck asserted that “maybe we could come together now on this nightmare in Iraq.”

Tallahassee Observer: Chapter 2

me (2)People tell me things. It could be because I ask questions, often with a microphone and recorder in hand. And remarkably, people tell me things. And then I tell other people what they said. It’s how I make a living. Is this a great country or what?

I’ve been doing this for about 25 years.  Telling stories about north Florida.; writing about its wildlife,  Florida State football  and Tallahassee activists.

These days, I spend my time wandering around the Florida State Capital Complex. Recently I was terminated as the managing editor of an on-line publication focused on the Florida Legislature.

Funny story, I was promoted. My staff was fired. A week later my position was eliminated.  You can read about it here.  I spent the past year writing for a south Florida blog, and then it happened again. I find myself  out of work.

Why do I have philosophical differences with publishers – #!^# those Jesuits on the philosophy faculty at Youngstown State University. I mean, I’m starting to feel like a Frank Zappa song.

Which means as an underemployed writer I am firing back up the blog I created in 2008 when I realized Charlie Crist was a bit different than other politicians.  Just look two, three entries down on this page to see what I mean or explore my archives for stories from when Crist was governor .

I’m the Tallahassee Observer and you can read more here.
